Family Home Evening

Today for Family Home Evening, we carved pumpkins. Brian seemed to really enjoy getting messy. But Kallie, decided she wanted nothing to do with the activity when the pumpkin was cut opened.

After carving my pumpkin I realized two things. One, I still really don't enjoy carving pumpkins. Kallie obviously got my personality trait that would just rather not get messy. And then there is the whole emergency room trip as a kid when I picked the pumpkin that grew around a rock and my pocket knife closed on my hand. My second realization is that Natalie is much more creative than I am. This was dreadfully obvious to me with just some simple facial shapes removed from a pumpkin. Here is the final result of the evening.

The professional carving on the left is the act of my beautiful wife. The mediocre attempt at carving on the right is mine. Brian was adamant that his pumpkin have Frankenstein hair.

Happy Halloween, I will post again soon with pictures of the kids in their Halloween costumes.

I love the pictures. We are going to carve either tonight or tomorrow. Memories are a wierd thing. I don't remember you cutting your hand open on a knife. I have no recollection of that. Wierd.

Yah, I ended up having to have stiches in the emergency room. After Halloween had passed we took the pumpkin to the garage and used a hatchet to cut it open. It had no guts, it was solid rock.
