Happy Birthday Kallie; 5-Years Old!

Nothing is more worthy to make me dust of the ol' blog than my princess' birthday. Miss Kallie Kay turns 5 years old today. She has been so excited and has been counting down the days for a month now. She is such a smart little girl, and she is constantly amazing Natalie and me about the things she remembers. She has the attitude of 5 little girls, and we are hoping to harness that stuborness and direct it towards staying on the straight and narrow and choosing the right. She is one of a kind and we wouldn't have her any other way. We love our Kallie Kay. Here are a few pictures showing her many different looks over the years (descriptions are under the pictures.

Here is our sweet girl, less than an hour old.

3 days old, but I loved the picture so I posted it.

2 months old

Just over a year old. This hasn't changed much, she still loves her ice cream.

Disneyland, She still remembers the strangest details.

And a flash forward to today.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KALLIE
We love you!

Happy Birthday Brian! 7 Years Old

We have had a birthday in the house! And it makes Dad and Mom feel even older. Brian turned 7, even if he looks like he is 10. He was very excited for his birthday. Today we took him to eat at his favorite restaurants, Chili's. And he used some of his gift money to buy a new Wii game. He chose Lego Star Wars. Here are a few pictures from the birthday day. I added a few pictures from Christmas too since I never blogged it.

Batman is the hit this year. He loved his mom-made cake this year.

Excited kids waiting for presents.

Nerf guns are always a hit with 7 year old boys. Brian also got a new watch, scriptures, some clothes, a reading lamp (big hit), and lots of extra ammo for Nerf battles. He was a very happy birthday boy.

And now some Christmas pictures.

New cars plate

Police cars are always a hit

Now Kallie can make any hairdo she wants, Grandma and Grandpa Marchant got her a perfect victim.

And Brian loved the Batmobile that Grandma and Grandpa Marchant got him. One of the coolest toys I have seen.

And of course, babies are always good for Kallie.
So there is a little bit from the gift giving days at our house!

I know this man's pain

I have to give credit where it is deserved. My brother-in-law, Lance, found this video and tipped me on to it. As much as I hate to be able to relate to this man, I do, and I do it so well.

I have had all these thoughts, I will be sharing this one with lots of co-workers.

A quick edit, it should be noted I disagree with the changing of the coach bit, but the tirade about losing..... yah thats me.

Quantum of Solace - The Review

Quantum of Solace

RATED PG-13

I really hate to say it, but this movie was a little bit of a disappointment for us. There was so much build up for this movie. And the last movie, Casino Royale, was sooo fantastic.

The story line is this. James Bond's girlfriend from the last movie, was betrayed and killed. James Bond took this personal, and makes it his next mission to to hunt down the people that blackmailed his lover. Bond's hunt leads him to the organization that coerced his dead girl. Bond, of course, discovers that the problems he has walked into are bigger than he thought, and has to take care of business.

Like all Bond movies, there is a lot of action in this show. Daniel Craig makes such a good James Bond. One of the best things about this movie, no graphic sex scene. There was a brief moment, but I saw the same amount of skin on a Miley Cyrus magazine photo. One of the things this movie seemed to lack, was a cold hearted, no holds barred, James Bond. While his boss keeps bothering him about his kill count being too high, most of these seem accidental, and it seemed like Bond just lacked the killer instinct. In the end it just seemed like Mr. Bond was a moody secret agent, and lacked that Casino Royale confidence. I know, I know, it's the story line, I just wish it had been different.

Despite the movie feeling like it was lacking that edge, the special effects were awesome, and I am happy I got to see it. Natalie was not as forgiving with the movie, but was very happy at the lack of the obligatory (for a Bond Movie) sex scene. I don't think Natalie would be heart broken if she didn't see it again. I would give it another go.

Sometimes it can be hard when the previous movie is so awesome, that it is nearly impossible to live up to it.

Happy Halloween

Halloween came and went, and I was supposed to blog about it awhile ago, but life happened. Sorry. Changing over to graveyards has been particulary hard for me. But today I am feeling pretty good, so here goes nothin.

Halloween costumes were chosen months ago. So now we are proud to present Batman, and the (Good) Witch.

Brian is wearing my Batman costume I wore in 4th grade. Only the muscle suit was mine, he got to order the gloves, belt and mask. The cape is his Darth Vader cape. It's sad that the costume I fit in, when I was in fourth grade, he fits in, when he is in first grade.

Kallie's costume is all new, we knew it was for her the minute we spotted it. She is very specific about being a good witch and not a bad witch.

We swung by Grandma and Grandpa Fuhrimans to show off the kids. They were nice enough to take a family picture for us. Natalie is a referee and I am wearing my BYU football paraphernalia. I credit my beautiful wife for the sporting wear idea. She makes a pretty cute ref.

Our last stop of the day was at Aunt Angela's house. Angela was definitly in the spirit of the Holiday. You can't beat her Malificent costume. Very well done.

Like every year, the kids came home with the mother load of candy. They love Halloween. It doesn't quite trump Christmas, but it's close. Now they are already asking how many days have to pass until Christmas. What cute kids, there is nothing like watching kids grow up, I wouldn't miss it for the world.

Family Night Out

We have to be kind of tricky with family nights because of my rotating shifts. A few years ago we took the kids to "The Pumpkin Patch" in North Logan. They loved it so much that they have asked to go back ever since. Well this year we were fortunate to be able to go again. It is a 5 day event and we are kind of at the mercy of my days off. We were excited to go again.

The setup of the event is this, people create scenes using pumpkins as part of whats involved. You walk thru a path in the park that is lined with hay bales that have carved jack'o'lanterns on them. If you go at night, all of the pumpkins have lit candles inside of them, and the scenes are illuminated. There are people there dressed up in costumes, and there are fun things for the kids to do. The last time we went it was SOOOOO cold. This year we went a bit early and were glad that we did. While we were there (at the event) the temperature dropped 5 degrees. And when we left Logan that night, it was about 20 degrees colder than it was when we got there. Here are a few pictures, enjoy!

Brian was very excited that someone decided to go along with the fireman theme. He loves firefighters and about everything to do with them, he was very disappointed that the ladder behind him didn't make it into the picture, but he would have been even more disappointed if the fireman missed his photo opportunity as well. Some of Brian's favorite themes were Indiana Jones and Batman. Kallie liked anything with a princess in it.

Here are Brian and Kallie's best kung-fu moves. How appropriate that they are at the Kung Fu Panda themed scene. Whoever painted the faces on the pumpkins, they did a very good job with the tiger in the back, because it looked very real.

Some of the fun things for kids are these character cut outs, there are many more pictures, but we only posted one of each. We thought Kallie made the best Little Mermaid.

Now we never knew what a good Yoda we had in the family. But when Brian put his head in there, it was a perfect fit! The force is strong with this one.

After dinner we took the kids to eat at The Iron Gate Grill. All of the food was excellent, and the kids had fun trying a new place. If anyone is interested the pumpkin even goes until Monday, and its free! Get a hold of Natalie or me if you have any interest and we will give you directions.
