Another Review

One of my favorite things to do with my blog is put reviews on it. It's so hard to find a good review now days. Now I don't know if anyone agrees with my reviews or not, but there here. And if you are willing to subject yourself by coming to this blog, that's what you'll get. I have a few people in my life that I will take their reviews 100% of the time and they are generally right in line with what I think. And then there are the others that tell me what they think and I find that my opinion totally differs. I won't name names, but there is one person that gives me their review and I know that I will be the total opposite. So when I talk to this person and say, "Hey what did you think of ............?" They tell me their opinion and I take it. If they say they loved it, I will hate it, and if they hated it, I will love it. So not a pointless review. You decide where my reviews stand in line with your opinion.

So my review for today is Goodwood Barbecue Co. restaurant in Riverdale. Natalie and I had heard wonderful things about this place. First our friends Travis and Kristin, recommended it. Travis had the brisket. I have never had brisket. Travis went on his mission to Texas, and apparently they have the best brisket on the planet in Texas. Travis' description of brisket was not appetizing, so no brisket for me.
I was excited to go. We have already established on this blog that I am a nerd, so what does a nerd do? I went searching the Internet for their website. I found it; http://www.goodwoodbbq.com/. Hmmmm not impressed? Neither was I. But on their menu I saw that they had prime rib. Now I am not a person that likes his food messed with. I order the same thing every time. For every restaurant I have found that safe meal. The one without the hidden veggies, and good flavor. So when I saw the menu and read smoked prime rib, my first thought was this, "Smoked....? Why would anyone ruin a perfectly good prime rib by smoking it." And then it comes with a Idaho Baker. Now I know I speak code all the time at work, but if someone is smoking prime rib, that means an Idaho Baker could be anything. I assumed it was a baked potato, but there was the potential of surprise with somebody's fancy concoction.

When we got to the restaurant (which looks exactly like the picture here), we saw that there was a little bit of a wait. We went to get on the list and we were told it would be an hour wait. I was shocked, there were maybe 20 people ahead of us, tops. Well needless to say the wait was 25 minutes. It was already 8:30PM so I was certain that they would be out of the prime rib. But to my surprise, they still had it. So smoked prime rib it was! And they had fries! no Idaho Baker for me. Natalie chose the pulled pork and barbecue chicken. She was very impressed, she really liked that when she heated her leftovers the smoked flavor was even stronger.

Now is when I eat my words. I absolutely loved the smoked prime rib. The best part about it was the fact that it was smoked. It was so good I craved it the next day. My taste buds ached for the smoked flavor. Now I won't say this is the best prime rib I have ever had. I almost want to create a different category for specialty prime rib. The fries, awesome. I always get a side of ranch to dip my fries in. I will say that their ranch beats Maddox.

Goodwood will be one of my high recomendations to anyone that asks. While I am still going to choose to eat some other places when given the choice, I wouldn't bat an eye to choose Goodwood if I was in the neighborhood.

I agree. I've only had a barbecue brisket sandwich from there once, and it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I also recommend Good Wood to all.

Good! I am happy you liked it. I think I am going to have to go there again and refresh my memory if I liked it or not.
