The Incredible Hulk, The Review

THE INCREDIBLE HULK

RATED PG-13

I don't know how many of you saw the first Hulk movie they put out (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0286716/), if you did, you can probably remember that it wasn't very good (and that's pulling a punch). So I was a little skeptical when I saw they were releasing another. If it hadn't been for the recommendation from a few friends, I don't think I would have given this movie much of a chance. So here is the summary;

"Scientist Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) desperately seeks a cure for the gamma radiation that contaminated his cells and turned him into The Hulk. Cut off from his true love Betty Ross (Liv Tyler) and forced to hide from his nemesis, Gen. Thunderbolt Ross (William Hurt), Banner soon comes face-to-face with a new threat: a supremely powerful enemy known as The Abomination (Tim Roth) ." - from KSL.COM

Basically the plot line of this movie is, Bruce Banner is trying to find a cure so that he never turns into the Hulk again. Gen. Ross is trying to catch Bruce so that he can be studied, and hopefully replicated, into a turbo military soldier. When the Hulk proves to be more than a match for anything the military can bring, a special forces soldier volunteers to be experimented on. They go to storage and inject him with Hulk juice (or something like it). In the end you have a serious battle between someone trying to get rid of their power, and someone who craves more and more power.

The actors in this movie were fantastic. Edward Norton does such a great job. And the character he plays is such a neat guy. Just an honest, good person trying to prevent bad things from happening to himself and others. Liv Tyler does such a great job as well. She walks a perfect line in caring about Bruce Banner and still being a smart, tough person. I liked the story line of this movie. I loved the characters.

If any of you saw Iron Man, there is a part at the end of this movie that you absolutely have to see. There is a scene that is similar to the end scene of Iron Man that links the two movies together. And it is awesome. This scene had Natalie and I speculating about possibilities for 10 minutes following the movie.

Now for my next part of my review, I have to say, generally I am a pretty tolerant person. I love a good fight in a movie, and love getting into the action. But for this movie, I was shocked by the violence. And for me, that's hard to do. Needless to say my 6 year old, superhero freak, little boy, will NOT be seeing this movie. I was fine with Iron Man, he can watch the epic battles in Lord of the Rings. But he won't see this movie. Despite the fact that the violence in this movie is being committed by an unrealistic character, it was shocking. You would think that being a cop, seeing real life violence, and watching my fair share of it on TV, would desensitize me, well your right. But this movie was enough to push past that barrier and shock me. The fight at the end of this movie is basically a battle where good and bad are trying to kill each other with their bare hands, and it's very intense.

All in all, I loved this movie. I thought it was very well done. I am knocking my review down half a star for the violence. It was just so intense. For adults, I would recommend this movie, but its not for kids. If your kids want to see it, Mom and Dad go first and then decide what you think. And no matter what, the end scene (30 seconds), makes a ticket to this show worth every penny.
