Well it has been a really long time since I posted. And the only excuse I have is procrastination. I thought about posting many times. But everytime I thought about it, there was something pending in life. I kept telling myself, "Oh, just wait a day, and maybe you can put this exciting tid-bit on the blog." And the sad thing is, when I look back, not alot of things stand out as signifigant.
So let me see if I can sum up some of what has happened. We have all been very busy. I am not working graveyard shift anymore, and have switched to swing shift. August is the busiest month of the year for a police officer in Tremonton, and swing shift is the busiest shift to be on. It seems like no matter how hard I try to make it home on time, I am always late. Something always happens close to shift change and I am typing reports or called to help someone.
We finished out July with Tremonton City Days and dog sitting. A dog breeder donated a black lab to the Police Department to be used as a police service dog. It will be used only as a drug detection dog. So all the officers were asked who would like to be a dog handler. I volunteered as well as every single eligible officer in the department. When I started law enforcement this was one of my goals and dreams to be a K9 handler. So our family focused on this goal 100%. While we waitied for the selection process the puppy didn't have a home. So all the applicants took turns dog sitting. We had the little puppy for 5 days and fell in love with it. It is one of the smartest dogs I have ever met. Natalie and the kids loved it as well. We had a good time, and it was sad when we had to pass him on to the next officer that was applying for the position.
We felt like we had a really good chance of getting the dog. There were definite advantages and disadvantages either way to having the dog. I decided the no matter what decision was made for the placement of the dog, I would focus on the good if we were chosen, and if we didn't get it, I would remind myself of the disadvantages.
I went through the interview process and did my very best, but in the end I wasn't chosen for the position. So as sad as it is to watch someone else be given an opportunity I have wanted forever, we handled it gracefully and have moved on.
For those of you that know me other than just an aquaintance, you know that I am a night person. We have always called it being a "night-owl", in our family. So generally I post at night time. But between dog sitting and getting home much later than normal, and of course, procrastination, thats why there haven't been any posts in a while. But, I am already articulating another post in my head so hopefully it won't be as long till my next posting.

Sorry to hear you didn't get the puppy. I know the kids and Natalie would have loved it to pieces. Better luck next time. Hope you guys are well.
