The Dark Knight, The Review

THE DARK KNIGHT

RATED PG-13

OK before I saw anything else, THIS MOVIE IS AWESOME!! Just a warning I might say that again this review.

We didn't get to see this movie on opening night. So the longer we waited, I started to hear people's opinions of the movie. And I can't recall hearing a single bad review. The fact that I was hearing so many good things, had me pretty pumped up to see the movie. Of course I found time to even watch the first movie before we went. And after watching the first movie I was really excited. I think I forgot how good the first movie really was.

Here is the basic plot line of the movie. Batman has been doing his thing in between the movies. Stopping crime. And he has been doing it in dramatic fashion. He has been so effective at stopping the crimes that the local crime bosses are reeling. Well a new guy on the crime scene, the Joker, offers his services in eliminating Batman. The only problem we have, is the Joker is a psychopath. He has no scruples. And he is willing to do whatever it takes, and the more twisted and evil it sounds, he is more likely to do it. And one of the things the Joker does, is make Batman start making hard choices about the people he cares about.

Just like the first movie, this movie is very dark. And I think that its appropriate. We have a city that is so evil that the cops are bought off, and only a single man representing a symbol, is the only thing that even shakes the crime element in the city. If you have that, then the movie should be dark, and it feels much more real to me.

This movie is 2 1/2 hours long. It was so good that I was on the edge of my seat for the entire duration. I don't think I can say enough about Heath Ledger as the Joker. I would be astounded if he doesn't win a lot of awards for this movie. As you know, Heath died about a year ago. This comment isn't made because he is dead. If Heath was alive and well today, I still think he would win the awards.

The bottom line is, THIS MOVIE IS AWESOME!! Natalie told me last night that she wants to see both movies again (this one and Mamma Mia!). This is definitely a movie I will watch again. When this comes out on DVD, I will own it. This and Iron Man are the best movies I have seen this year. So naturally, I would recommend seeing this movie.

I already posted this on your Mama Mia comment but we went to see it opening night. Brian and I both loved it. We are with you on the Joker. Heath Ledger was the best joker ever....very dark.
